On allergies and atopy
Atopy is another word for allergies. Atopy is a medical word though and is not normally used in every day conversation. Atopy is not even listed in the English-English dictionary that we normally use. For skin problems, we usually say eczema. Nearly 20% of Americans are affected according to WebMD.
