Optometrists and ophthalmologists
America has optometrists and ophthalmologists who provide eye health care. Optometrists provide eye health care, but are not surgeons. Still, some optometrists may perform some surgeries. Ophthalmologists are surgeons who operate on eyes. In America, optometrists must go to college for four years and graduate. Then they must pass another four year program to become optometrists. In America, ophthalmologists must go to college for four years and graduate, go to medical school and graduate, and then have four to five years of residency training. Now that is a long time!
