Fracture, break, and crack

In English, we have three different terms: fracture, break, and crack. These words all mean the same thing. In medical terminology, these are referred to as bone fractures. Our bones heal naturally, but several factors influence the rate of healing. Nicotine, in any form, will slow down healing while sufficient nutrition will help healing. Naturally, calcium is a part of this sufficient nutrition. If we break a bone in our foot or leg, we will probably need crutches to help ourselves to walk. In America, underarm crutches are the most commonly used for people with broken bones. In Europe, forearm crutches are most commonly used, but American doctors are starting to prescribe them too.
