San Gimignano is located in the province of Siena, which is in Tuscany, north-central Italy. This walled medieval town is well-known for its architecture. The city was independent until the plague of 1348 came; the city submitted to Florence. In the nineteenth century, San Gimignano started to be recognized both for tourism and for art.
