This little girl is part of the Misteri, a procession that takes place every Good Friday for 24 hours in the coastal city of Trapani. Sicily during Easter has many of these ancient rituals, dating back to when Spain dominated Sicily. While that of Trapani is the best known, many other towns have similar traditions.
