Schoenbrunn Palace

ショーンブルン宮殿
By Ahmed Rabea (CC)
Schönbrunn Palace is in Vienna, Austria. The palace was a royal residence dating back to Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II who purchased the property in 1569. The original palace and other buildings were destroyed in the Turkish siege of 1683. Emperor Leopold I ordered a new palace designed and construction began in 1696. Until 1918, succeeding Hapsburg Emperors and others would live in the palace, reconstructing and redesigning it. After the downfall of the monarchy in 1918, the new Austrian Republic preserved the palace as a museum. Since the 1960s, the palace has been a major tourist attraction in Vienna.
